Ultrasonographic findings of periappendiceal abscess

Abstract

|
Diagnosis of periappendiceal abscess is occasionally difficult due to its atypical symptom and sign. However radiologic diagnostic methods, such as simple abdomen X -ray, double contrast barium enema, ultrasonography or CT scan are helpful to early detection of periappendiceal abscess. Among these methods, ultrasonography is a non invasive tech ique and perfirmed without discomfort to patient. And also sequential ultrasonographic studies in the same patient are valuable for the evaluation of treatment effect. So we analysed ultrasonographic findings of 27 cases periappendicial abscess.
